What is the longest (in days) non-stop passage you have made in this boat?

Do you sometimes sail overnight?

You might expect that larger boats, having greater fuel capacities, would make longer passages. Surprise! Although boats in the 35- to 39.9-foot range made the longest average trips (497 nm), boats 30 to 34.9 feet beat both boats 40 to 44.9 feet and boats 45 feet and up.

The longest passage in each group was: 975 nm (25 to 29.9 feet); 3,000 nm (30 to 34.9 feet); 1,200 nm (35 to 39.9 feet); 1,000 nm (40 to 44.9 feet); and 700 nm (45 feet and up).

More interesting as a test of endurance is the longest passage in days at sea. Again, the 35- to 39.9-foot boats stayed out the longest times, averaging 6.0 days.

Don't get the idea that the boats surveyed were "ocean cruisers." Seventeen percent had never exceeded either 100 nm or one day.
